USA Off to Round 2 / Mail Call #8

Mom was working tonight, but Dad and I hung out and watched the USA take on Venezuela in the WBC.  The Venezuelans came out ready to go and shook up the US pitchers.  It wasn’t all bad though.  Chris Iannetta came up big with a HUGE 2 run home run.  He hit it up towards the upper deck of the dome.  It was a doozy.  Nice job Chris, you continue to amaze us!

Good luck to Team USA in round 2.

Tonight, we’re watching the Aussies as they take on Mexico.  Dad spent almost two months in Australia after college exploring the land (and water) down under, so we’re cheering for them.

So here’s a special mail call, from a player on the Australian team.  It’s from Rich Thompson.  He’s an up and coming pitcher for the AL West Champion Angels.  Good luck tonight Mr. Thompson and thanks for signing my card!

Spring Training Plans and Mail Call #6

I’ve been busy packing my bags.  I got my clothes, rockies gear, toys, snacks, diapers and baseballs in hopes of getting an autograph or two.  I’m heading out first thing tomorrow morning to Arizona, to catch my first Spring Training game.

I wasn’t really sure what game to to go see tomorrow afternoon.  There are just so many great teams, so close together.  In the end, I’ve decided to check out the Angels vs. Brewers.  I snagged some pretty good seats and decided to invite Mom, Dad, Pappy and Gran C to go with me.

On Monday, we’re heading to Tucson to catch the Rockies vs. Angels.  I can’t wait.

2.27.09-1.jpgI also got a nice return in the mail today from Padres pitcher Heath Bell.

2.27.09-2.jpgDad helped me send this one out at the beginning of Spring Training and he sent it back quick.  Thanks Mr. Bell!

I’ll post again soon.  Gotta go grab some zzz’s before my early flight.

Iannetta on Team USA Roster

Chris Iannetta has accepted an invitation to play for Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.  That must be quite an honor!  Way to go Chris.  Here’s a pic of Mom helping me get my program signed by Chris last season.

I couldn’t think of a more deserving player.  He’s a solid catcher, had a good year at the plate and treats the fans really well.

He’ll be playing alongside players like Derek Jeter, Chipper Jones and Jimmy Rollins.  Brian Fuentes, who was recently traded from my Rox to the Angels has also accepted an invitation.  Brad Hawpe got an invite, but hasn’t made a decision yet.
