Back to Coors Field
So the regular season is well underway and I finally made it to Coors Field to see my Rockies back in action. April is kind of funny in Colorado. We get all kinds of weather and I didn’t want to bring my baby sister to a game in the snow and cold weather. So I sent Mom and Dad out with some of their friends to scope things out a few weeks ago. They went to see the Rockies take on the Padres.
They seemed to think it was warm enough for us to all go see a game. I called up Grancie and Pap, got tickets and got ready for my first game of the season. We went last weekend to see the Rockies take on the Marlins.
It was so great to be back at the yard. It was rainy and breezy, but we were bundled up and did our best to stay warm. Here’s the view from our seats.
Stacy seemed like she was having a lot of fun. She ate puffs and stayed awake for almost the whole game!

The guys looked good and pulled out an 8-4 win. We had a blast.
I think the weather has finally started to warm up around here. I took my sister to the zoo last week for a picnic. She loves being outside in the sun.
Mom and Dad took us to see a helicopter, fire truck and police cars. Here’s me learning how to fly the helicopter.
Then I got to sit up front in the fire truck.
I’m so glad the summer is almost here. I plan on making the most of the nice weather and catching lots of baseball games. I’ll keep you posted on what I’m up to and you can be sure I’ll be cheering on my Rockies all season long.

Cactus League Spring Training ’10
Last week, I had the chance to go back to Arizona for some Spring Training games. Last year was my first time attending and I had a blast. I couldn’t wait to go back and see some of my favorite players on the field again.
Mom took my little sis Stacy out to North Carolina to visit my aunt Kathy and my cousins Robert and Marissa. Dad, Grancie and Pap flew with me out to Phoenix to catch a few games.
Our day started early on Saturday morning. We were staying in Scottsdale and just cruised around to check out the town. We came across an antique car show. If you know me, then you know that besides baseball, I also love cars. I always travel with a few matchbox cars, I’ve got car posters in my room and even have car slippers that I wear all the time. I got really excited when we found this car show.
It was the perfect way to start my trip.
After spending some time peeking into all of the fancy cars on display, it was time to head over to the game. Dad got tickets for our first game to see the Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Francisco Giants. We saw the Brewers at their home field in Maryvale last year and liked it so much, we decided to go back again this year.
This was their Opening Day!
Dad got great seats. We were front row over the Giants dugout. I learned how to use crayons during the offseason and thought I’d try to fill out the scorecard.
The Brewers picked up pitcher Randy Wolf from the Dodgers in the offseason. He looked pretty sharp and threw two scoreless innings.
I love watching Ryan Braun at bat. He hit a home run in the 5th inning.
Dad got a ball signed for me by Ryan when he was making his way back to the clubhouse!
Before too long, it was time for the infamous Sausage Race! This is always a highlight at a Brewers game.
These guys are fast, funny and make me hungry. Yummy yummy!
Corey Hart hit a foul ball that was tossed up towards my seat by the third base coach. Grancie was quick enough to snag it for me.
The Brewers kept pouring it on and went on to win 12 – 1. I got in my car seat and fell asleep before we even got out of the parking lot. Dad took a pic of me with my game ball.
I got my nap and decided to hang out back at the hotel and order a pizza. We ended up getting the biggest pizza I’ve ever laid eyes on. It’s a good thing we had it delivered, because I don’t think it would have fit in the trunk of our car. I mean just look at this thing!
This was the large size. They had an even bigger one on the menu!
Soon enough, it was time for bed. I had plenty of room to spread out and sleep like a king. I like baseball so much, that sometimes I sleep with my ball cap on.
The next day was dreary and rainy. I went shopping with Grancie and Pap, while Dad took a walk to see Scottsdale Stadium. Scottsdale is home to the San Francisco Giants. When Dad got to the stadium, he heard that all of the games around Phoenix had been cancelled due to the bad weather. He also saw some of the players heading home for the day. Dad decided to stick around for a little while to see if he could grab a few autographs. He managed to get some baseballs signed for our collection.
When he got back, he told me the players were really nice and he was really excited to have met Tim Lincecum. Here’s a picture of Tim signing autographs from his Mercedes.
We both like Tim a whole lot and are excited to have his autograph in our collection. Maybe he’ll win another Cy Young award this year.
The weather cleared out on Monday and we had time to catch one more game before heading home. We drove out to Goodyear Ballpark to see the Kansas City Royals vs. Cincinnati Reds.

Aroldis Chapman made his debut at this game. He recently defected from Cuba to come play baseball in the big leagues.
He went two innings and struck out three batters. He also got the “W” for the team. A nice way to start your MLB career if you ask me.
Don’t bother me Dad, I’m trying to watch the game!
In the 7th inning, we took a walk all the way around the ballpark. Here are some shots from the bullpen and the outfield.
The stadium opened last season for the Cleveland Indians and the Reds made the move from Florida this year to share it with them. It’s a great place to see a game.
Before long, it was time to head back to the airport and catch a flight back home to Colorado. But not before grabbing a burger and some fries from In-N-Out. I’m no expert, but this could be the best burger I’ve ever tasted!
What a great trip. I only wish I could have stayed longer. MLB Network will have to hold me over until Opening Day. Anybody have any extras for Opening Day at Coors Field?
It’s Almost Baseball Season Again!
So I took a break from my blogging during the off season. Don’t worry, I managed to stay pretty busy. Here’s a quick recap.
We took Pap up to the mountains for his birthday. Dad and I did some hiking by the river.
I attended my first hockey game. We saw the Colorado Avalance vs. the Edmonton Oilers. It’s no baseball, but it’ll do in the winter.
Stacy and I did a little trick or treating.
I got a chance to play in the snow. That white stuff is neat. Mom and Dad even made a snow man for me to look at through my window.
I turned 2 and ate lots of cake!
Christmas was a lot of fun this year. Santa brought me all kinds of fun things.
I met this guy at the National Western Stock Show. He must have been hungry because he tried to eat my coat.
I learned how to ride a horse.
Stacy and I hit the slots in Vegas.
But most of all, I worked on being a good big brother for my little sis Stacy.
The regular season starts in a few weeks. Dad and I have been watching Spring Training games on the MLB Network. I can’t wait for the season to begin. Dad and I are heading out to catch a few games in Phoenix and Mom and Stacy are going to visit family back east. Stay tuned for more!
Look Out National League, Here Come The Rockies!
My Rockies have been making things very interesting lately. A few days ago, they beat the Giants in 14 innings after Spilly hit a walk off grand slam and last night, they beat the Dodgers in 10 innings. It’s starting to feel like Rocktober around here.
I’ve been doing my best to be a good big brother. My little sister Stacy is pretty neat. I decided to take her to her first baseball game earlier this month. Here’s a picture of her.
I didn’t take it personally that she decided to sleep through most of the game. She sleeps almost as much as my kitty Sydney. I went ahead and enjoyed the game.
The weather has been perfect lately and we all kicked back to enjoy a beautiful sunset.
The Pirates didn’t put up much of a fight and the Rockies breezed to an 8-0 victory.
I didn’t want to miss any of the game and saved my sleeping for the ride home.
Last week, we got lucky and our friend Shawn gave us his tickets to see the Giants. He’s got great seats down the first base line. They are up nice and close. I could even hear Todd Helton when he was on the field.
Baseball and animal crackers. Life is good.
I gave Stacy my hat, but I think it might be a little big. At least she managed to stay awake for part of the game.
The Rockies really made this a fun one. They rallied from being behind 6-1 to winning the game 14-11. It was awesome!
Things are crazy around here right now. The Rockies are playing great baseball and really making these games fun to watch. I hope to catch another game in a few days, so stay tuned.
I also want to wish Mom a Happy Birthday! She’s the best!
Rox vs. Braves, Family Time and A Special Delivery
It seems that the older I get, the busier I get. My days are filling up with all kinds of things that I never imagined. I like staying busy, but it does keep me from posting as much as I’d like.
Anyway, my cousin Robert came out from North Carolina to visit me a few weeks ago. We went to the mountains, played in the batting cages and I took him to his first ever Major Leauge Baseball game! He had been to several minor league games, but no big leauge games. His team back home is the Durham Bulls. Here we are hanging out.
We got tickets to see the Rockies take on the Atlanta Braves. Here’s the view from our seats.
We got to watch a beautiful sunset on a perfect night at the park.
Dad was acting kind of weird during the game. See he’s got Tommy Hanson and Brain McCann on his fantasy baseball team, so he was cheering for them, but we’re obviously all big Rockies fans… I kept him in line and made sure he was rooting for the good guys. I was nice enough to take a picture though for him. Here’s Tommy Hanson pitching and Brian McCann catching.
It was a great game, that went all the way to the end. The Rockies were able to pull out a 1 run victory and I went home happy. I even managed to get a ball for Robert.
In other news, Mom and Dad brought home a little sister for me. Everybody meet Stacy!
In case you couldn’t tell, she’s really cute. She spends most of her free time eating, sleeping and going to the bathroom, so I’m trying to find her some hobbies that will give her something else to occupy her time. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I’ve been making out pretty good so far. I got to sleep over at Gran C and Pappy’s for a few nights and Grandma Goodrich came to town for a visit. I was completely spoiled. It was great.
I think I’ve talked everyone into taking me to a baseball game tomorrow. Mom, Dad, Stacy and I are going to head down to catch a Sky Sox game with Gran C and Pappy. I can’t wait. Hope to see you soon!
Interleague Play and a Quick Update
I’ve been pretty quiet on my blog lately. But that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped cheering for my Rockies or watching baseball. This summer has kept me busy so far and I don’t see my schedule slowing down any time soon.
Anyway, a few weeks ago, I caught a few games when the Tampa Bay Rays came to town. One night, was a guy’s night out, with Dad and our buddy Ned. Here’s some shots of David Price warming up in the bullpen. He’s on Dad’s fantasy baseball team, so I figured I’d snap a few pics for him.
On the other side of the wall, I also got to see Aaron Cook warm up.
We sat in the outfield eating hot dogs and argued over who to cheer for. My Rockies beat up on David Price and got the win.
On the next afternoon, we headed back to the stadium for another game. This time, we made sure to take Mom with us. Dad actually won a pair of tickets from work and we got to sit in the fancy club level at the stadium. It was our first time seeing a game from this part of the park.
The Rockies had Ubaldo Jimenez on the mound.
Mom was rooting for the Rockies, but she has Evan Longoria on her fantasy baseball team, so she was secretly cheering for him. Fantasy baseball can really get you mixed up on who to root for.
Don’t worry, I straightened her out and convinced her to cheer for the good guys.
And of course, they won! My guys have been doing great lately. I just hope we can keep it up and catch those pesky Dodgers.
My cousin Robert is in town for the next few days. He flew all the way out from North Carolina. I love having him stay with us. He’s funny and I like playing with him. He was lucky enough to recently visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. He even brought me back a nice, new hat.
Today, we headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park.
We’re taking him with us to the ballpark later this week. We’ll see the Rockies take on the Braves. I can’t wait. Talk to you soon!
Mail Call #10
Back in Spring Training, Mom and Dad took some great pictures for my blog. I decided to print a few out on Pappy’s fancy computer and see if I could get them signed. Last week, I got one back from White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle.
He’s off to another great season with a 6-1 record and a 2.77 ERA. I was pumped to get my picture returned!
Dad and I went to see the Rockies vs. Astros last Thursday, but I don’t have any pictures. We grabbed Mom’s camera, but didn’t realize the battery wasn’t in it. So, we just went, had fun, ate ballpark food and hung with our buddy Steve. The Rockies lost again… They are really struggling right now. I hope they can turn it around soon.
Mail Call #9
I’ve got some more mail to share with you. This time I got a letter from Mr. Duke Snider. He doesn’t play anymore. Mr. Snider is actually in the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Here’s what I got.
The Rockies have been on the road for a while and just got back in town last week. Dad had some friends in town and they went to see the Rockies vs. Dodgers last weekend.
I hope to make it back to the stadium soon. I’m overdue and I think the guys might be able to use my help.
Sheffield Hits Number 500!
Just wanted to give a quick congrats to Gary Sheffield, who hit his 500th home run last week with the New York Mets. He’s been stuck on 499 since last season and we got to see him hit #500 on the MLB Network. Check out our ball.
You’ve probably noticed that my Rockies are off to a slow start. They haven’t been playing well at all… It’s early and I still have faith, but it can be tough to watch at times. I just watched Franklin Morales give up back-to-back home runs to the nasty Diamondbacks. I really don’t like those guys.
This road trip has been too long. Come back to Coors Field guys!
Opening Week 2009
The 2009 season has officially begun. The Rockies played their home opener against the Phillies on Friday. We weren’t able to get tickets for Opening Day, but I did snag 4 tickets to see the Rockies vs. Phillies on Saturday.
It felt good to be back at Coors Field. Here’s Mom and I hanging out before the game.
I chowed down on Dad’s Super Dog and settled in for the game.
It wasn’t long before Tulo hit a bomb into the pond out in centerfield.
The Phillies had all of their heavy hitters in the lineup and quickly mounted a comeback. Here’s SS JImmy Rollins.

The Rockies brought in newly aquired Jason Hammel for some relief pitching.
He had a tough outing and gave up a few runs. Hopefully he was just having some jitters about his first start in a Rockies uniform.
The Rockies just couldn’t hold on and wound up losing 8-4. Oh well. It still felt pretty good to be back at the ballpark.

The Rockies are on the road for the next 10 days, but are back home at the end of the month to take on the Dodgers and the Padres. Keep an eye out and maybe you’ll see me at the park.
