A Giant Post For A Giant Beating

I have a lot of catching up to do.  I sent Mom and Dad off to a game this past Monday.  It was Labor Day and I called up Gran C and Pappy to come over for the day.  We hung out and I decided to watch the game on TV.  Mom and Dad had great seats that I got from our friend Shawn.

They got in a little early and watched the players stretch and warm up.  This was the first game back for Ryan Spliborghs.  He’s been hurt for the past few weeks.  Dad was psyched to see him back in the lineup.  Ryan came over to sign some autographs and Dad got a baseball card signed for me.

9.1-1.jpgJorge De La Rosa pitched an amazing game.  He’s really been coming through lately.

9.1-3.jpgMom caught Willy Taveras getting spanked.  I’m not sure what Willy did to deserve a spanking, but it probably has something to do with all of those stolen bases.  Willy, didn’t your Mom tell you that you shouldn’t steal!
9.1-4.jpg  Here’s Nick and Megan.  They went to the game with Mom and Dad.

Mom loves Garrett Atkins and got a good picture of him at bat.

I’m still learning my alphabet, but I know what a K is.  Dad says the more K’s on the board, the better off the Rockies are.  I’m not convinced I need to learn the other letters.  I’m pretty happy just knowing my K’s.

Jorge De La Rosa was the player of the game.  He really deserved it.

Mom and Dad seemed to have a lot of fun and I liked relaxing at home.  The next day, I made sure Mom and Dad knew I wanted to go to the game.  I had them take me early.

Mom and I hung out by the dugout, while Dad went out to the bleachers to try and snag a baseball for me.  There was a pretty small crowd out there, but the Giants couldn’t seem to hit a ball over the wall.  Oh well…  I still had fun hanging out with Mom and Dad.

Dad lost his Rockies hat at work and I didn’t want him to feel bad, so I didn’t wear mine either.  I wore my A’s cap instead.

Tim Lincecum was pitching for the Giants.  I’m not sure how old he is, but I think he’s only a few months older than me.

He might be young, but he’s really, really good.  I have a lot of practice ahead of me to catch up.

Great pics Mom!!!  It was the perfect night to catch a game.

Here’s my date Amanda.  She’s pretty straight forward and has a great sense of humor, which are things I look for in a woman.  I also like the fact that she’s a little older than me.  We had a great time and I’m sure she’ll be calling me again.

OK, back to the game.  Is it me, or does Aaron Rowand have the funniest stance in all of baseball?  I crack up every time he comes to bat.  He’s a great player, but he really makes me laugh.   The picture doesn’t do his stance justice.

 Swing and a miss!

Didn’t anybody tell Aaron that nobody gets any hits off of Brian Fuentes?

The game went into extra innings.  I love bonus innings because they’re free.  They don’t even make you pay for them!  Ryan Spilborghs came up in the 12th inning and I knew he’d be able to get the job done.  We exchanged a quick glance and he knew what he had to do.

He had the game winning, walk off hit and Mom caught it all on her camera.

She even got the celebration on the field.

9.2-15.jpgWay to go Ryan!  He was the player of the game and his friends put a pie in his face when he got back to the dugout.  I like to put food on my face too.  Sometimes I even leave it there to snack on later.

I spent today hanging out with some of my other lady friends.  The girl on the left is a Cubs fan.  I don’t know what her parents are trying to do to her, but I’m going to work on making her a Rockies fan.  Still, I told her I’d cheer for the Cubs if the Rockies didn’t make the playoffs next month.  What can I say, I like girls and bears.  It’s a tough combination to beat.

Where were you when Major League Baseball first used instant replay?  It happened tonight and I was sipping on a bottle watching the Yankess vs. Rays on ESPN with Dad.  Pretty cool.

I’ve really got to get some sleep.  Thanks for reading and please drop me a line.  Good night!
